Artist Statement / Bio

Olya is a Ukrainian-born sculptor based in Prague, working primarily with ceramic materials. Her practice explores the complexity of human nature, emotional depth, and the dualities of existence — strength and fragility, love and destruction, ritual and absurdity. Each sculpture is a dialogue between form and feeling, where bodies, symbols, and mythic elements come together in unexpected harmony or tension.

Rooted in hand-building techniques and intuitive process, Olya’s work often features abstracted figures, fragmented bodies, and surreal hybrids. She approaches clay as both a storytelling medium and a mirror of the unconscious — shaping it with a sense of curiosity, humor, and emotional honesty. Her sculptures invite the viewer to pause, feel, and reflect.

Olya holds a professional degree in fine arts with a focus on illustration and has over 20 years of experience as a visual artist. Her creative journey began early: she started receiving art commissions while still in school and went on to explore nearly every traditional and digital medium. Throughout her career, she has worked professionally across diverse art forms — from painting, illustration, and photography to digital art and creative direction.

As a fine art photographer, she was awarded multiple first-place prizes in national competitions across Ukraine. She is also an accomplished 2D artist and currently works as an art director in the game industry. While her artistic path has spanned many styles and techniques, it is ceramics that has become her chosen language — a medium that captures emotion and form in timeless, lasting material.

Having moved to Prague after the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine, Olya continues to create work that is deeply personal, yet universally resonant — often touching on themes of trauma, transformation, identity, and femininity.
